Minister of Transport visit port of Mukalla and chaired an expanded meeting

Minister of Transport Saleh Al-Jubwani said that the Ministry is in the process of developing the port of Mukalla, which will be in two phases. The first includes the development of the current port and the second stage the construction of the new port in Barum or Dhabah.

The minister inspected the commercial and shipping activity in Mukalla port. Eng. Salem Basamer Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yemen Arabian Sea Ports Corporation, explained the most important activities, plans and studies for the development of the port and the expansionof berths.


Al-jubwani chaired a meeting to discuss the development of the port of Mukalla, which can accommodate the largest number of vessels, especially large ones.


The meeting reviewed the proposals for the development of the port of Mukalla by building new berths and finding alternative proposals, by change location of the fourth fish project out of the port area, which is one of the developmental obstacles to the port.


The minister appreciated Saudi Arabia's support for port of Mukalla, which is to support the port with 60 ton crane provided by the Saudi reconstruction program in Yemen, which will contribute to improving the port's loading and discharges services.


The Minister was accompanied by the Chairman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Capt. Saleh Bin Nahid, and the Executive Chairman of the General Authority for Maritime Affairs, Eng. Mohammed bin Aifan.
